Italian Tanning Driven by China
Trends and innovations will be discussed, as undoubtedly will the worrying rises in raw hides, at the next Lineapelle, on the calendar in Bologna from 6th to 8th April. A unique opportunity to view the new collections of hides, fabrics, models, accessories and components for summer 2012 from more than one thousand exhibitors, including more than 500 tanneries, but also to understand market trends and prospects for work in the various destination sectors, from footwears to clothing, from leather goods to furnishings.
Apart from the worries for the rises in raw material prices, the Italian tanners association (UNIC), which organizes the exhibition, is optimistic "The outlook is positive, driven in particular by the good forecasts for Chinese manufacture, while from Europe confirmation is expected from the traditional customers (Germany, Spain, France) and Italian outsourcing (Romania, Tunisia)". The positive expectations are obviously linked to the good trend of 2010 which for the Italian tanning industry closed with a clear recovery after two years of drops: turnover + 16.3%, production +12.1%, export+31.2%. China is the main foreign market for Italian tanners with a share exceeding 20% and an increase of +40% in 2010 with respect to 2009.
