Shoe exports set a new record in 2010 in Wenzhou city
Wenzhou city achieved a remarkable result in shoe export although they met the challenges of labor shortage,changes on currency rate and inflationin 2010.
Shoe exports set a new record last year, the export in value amounted to US$3.988 billion, marking a growth of 42.96% year on year. This is reported by the city’s inspection and quarantine bureau.
The bureau official said we see a huge growth in number of foreign-oriented shoemakers in Wenzhou city mostly because of rebounding of overseas orders, and some shoe producers turned their eyes on foreign trade again.
The most remarkable was average price increasing, up 6.07% to US$5.15 for per pair.
EU countries took the first in the city’s footwear exports, accounting for 34.1% total footwear exports from Wenzhou city, the second was America that took up 14.89% of the exports, the following countries were Germany, Russia, Britain, Croatia, Ukraine, South Africa, Japan, France, Spain, Switzerland, Morocco and the United Arab Emirates.
The bureau said on previous year many Wenzhou’s shoemakers have established their own directly sale outlets in Russia, Ukraine and Dubai, which plays a vital role to maintain the stable growth in shoe export.
