GLOBAL LEATHER CHEMICALS MARKET TO REACH $4.5 BILLION BY 2015, REPORT CLAIMS

The global leather chemicals market, including colourants and chemicals that are used for tanning, dyeing, re-tanning and finishing, will be worth an estimated $4.5 billion by 2015, according to a new report from California-based research company Global Industry Analysts.

Asia-Pacific, Europe and North America account for over 90% of the share of the global leather chemicals market, the report stated. It expects growth to come from expanding leathergoods and leather production market, and talks of 'resurgent demand' for leather from the footwear and automatic industries.

It goes on to say that a major issue facing the market relates to the adverse environmental impact caused by some of the chemicals currently in use. 'Growing awareness about environmentally friendly products and processes and the need to comply with regulatory specifications is contributing to the uptake of eco-friendly leather chemicals,' Global Industry Analysts have explained.

The report provides a review of the latest market trends, product introductions and innovations, as well as recent industry activity. The study analyses market data in terms of sales values for different regions of the world.
