China's Shoe, Bag Exports Up in June
China’s General Administration of Customs announced that total import and export value in June was US$564.5 billion, a year-on-year increase of 10.3% (previous value 11.1%), and a cumulative year-on-year increase of 10.3% (previous value 10.3%). Among them, exports increased by 17.9% year-on-year in the month (the previous value was 16.9%, in US dollars), and imports were 1% year-on-year.
In terms of products, the demand for commodities with such as clothing, shoes and bags is only increasing. In June, the cumulative export value of clothing, shoes, and bags increased by 1.8, 3, and 2.5 percentage points from the previous value to 12%, 32.5%, and 35.7%, respectively.
In Shanghai, however, city officials reported that in the first half of the year, the city’s total retail sales of consumer goods was 759.096 billion yuan, down 16.1% from the same period last year.
In terms of consumption of clothing, shoes and hats, in the first half of the year, the retail sales of clothing, shoes and hats and textiles decreased by 15.2% year-on-year. From March to May, the stores of the city’s leading clothing enterprises in local and other provinces and cities were affected by the epidemic to varying degrees, and retail sales fell by 33.3% year-on-year; in June, the retail sales fell by 3.4% year-on-year.
