Next Edition of the UITIC Congress with Open Calls for Papers
Abstract: The 21st edition of the International Technical Footwear Congress, which will take place from the 20th to the 22nd of September 2023, in Milan, has opened calls for presentations on sustainability and innovation
“During this 21st UITIC Congress we are expecting speakers from footwear companies, research centres, universities or service providers for presenting new ideas, findings or applications in the field of sustainability and innovation in the footwear business or in related industries”, stated Françoise Nicolas, Chair of the UITIC Congress Scientific Committee.
As previously disclosed, the event, organized by the International Union of Shoe Industry Technicians (UITIC), with the support of the National Association of Italian Manufacturers of Footwear, Leather Goods, and Tanning Technologies (ASSOMAC) and the Messe Frankfurt Italia, will focus on the topic 'Innovation & Sustainability - Moving Towards Sustainability Through Innovation'. “If innovation and sustainable development have sometimes been considered as two antagonistic principles, they must now be fully associated to ensure the viability of the company”, reads the call for submissions.
“Sustainability is becoming more and more important in society, and it is seen by consumers as an increasingly important value. In this context, neglecting sustainable innovation when creating products, services and equipment would be a mistake that could lead to turning one's back on the future”, it adds. Therefore, the organization of the event is inviting footwear manufacturers and experts to submit proposals on the topic – which may cover issues such as innovations in productsand materials, digital transformation, human capital for the industry 5.0 and successful sustainability stories – until the 15th May 2023 following this link.
21st UITIC Congress Programme
The organization has also confirmed that visitors will be offered the option of taking part in the event one day earlier, on the 19th, with planned visits to factories and companies in the areas of Milan and Vigevano. On the following day, included in the Congress package is a visit to the Simac Tanning Tech trade fair - due to be held from the 19th to the 21st of September at Fiera Milano Rho. At last, on the 21st and 22nd, a series of conferences and networking opportunities will take place at the NH Milano Congress Centre. For more information, please refer to the website's event.
